Happy Pause

I was walking Gus through the neighborhood, with its bland shades of grey, brown and dull green.  It's that time of year just before colour pops its head up to brighten your day.  And then I came across this....

In the middle of it all, the most amazing cherry blossom tree.  I didn't even know we could grow these in Winnipeg, which made it extra special.  I was awestruck for a few moments.

I read that cherry blossoms are an omen of good fortune and also an emblem of love and affection.  What great things to symbolize!

Isn't it nice when something small gives you a reason to pause and be happy?

  2. I have one of those trees in my backyard. It's blooming as I type. It flowered last year when Vivi was born, and is flowering today while we wait the news of our new house. The flowers only last a few days, and I agree that it blooms right when you need to see something beautiful.
