Thursday Blog Share: Spoonflower

Funny what a day or two can do, I'm feeling refreshed after some good night sleeps, lots of reading time (Secret Daughter is fantastic!) and a nice family dinner!

So since I've started to narrow my furniture focus to having distinctive details like zesty colours, pretty paper accents and unique fabrics, I've been searching high and low for great sources.  Design*Sponge recently posted a list of fabric resources and I came across the most amazing site called  Spoonflower.

This online fabric shop not only hawks beautiful textiles, they also allow you to create your own fabric!  How cool is that?  For all you designers out there, you simply upload a file with your design and you can have it printed on your own custom fabric.

Here's a small sample of some of my favourites from their current fabric stock for sale:

Also every week they have a fabric design contest where you can enter your original designs and readers can vote on their faves.  The winner receives a Spoonflower credit plus a commission of all fabric sold in their design!  Isn't that just a great way to break into the textile design industry?

Another great feature is that you can choose your fabric weight and content for all designs and order both small and large quantities, depending on your project.  You can check out Spoonflower's blog here!

Have a great Thursday friends...

Etsy Love: Skinny Laminx

Okay, so it all started with this blog post on Design*Sponge about these guys over at Spruce Austin.

I fell head over heels in love with the fabric they used on their couch revamp.

So then I visited this Etsy shop called Skinny Laminx.  How cute is that name?  She is an illustrator, writer and designer in Capetown, South Africa and she designs textiles and works with local craftspeople to have them printed onto locally-woven fabrics.  You can check out her blog here.

Then I promptly ordered a quarter-metre of each of these...

Colts in Teal

Cloud Birds in Aquamarine

Now I need to find something to do with them - project-wise.  But I don't care because I am so in love with them that I will figure it out!  Any ideas friends?

Oh, impulse...you totaly kill me.  And that my friends, is an inside peek at how my brain works!

Happy Friday!
