Delighful DIY: I'm stumped!

Happy Monday friends!  I hope you are all enjoying the last little bit of the long weekend?  We just got back from a wonderful family-filled weekend at the lake.  It was a great time except for the hike we took through the woods that resulted in poor little Gus getting covered in hundreds of tiny little burrs embedded in his fur.  Needless to say it was pretty stressful but several hours of carefully cutting them and his hair off with scissors (which is how I normally cut his hair), left him A-OK.  Whew!  That's what being a puppy mama is all about!

Speaking of the woods, I came across this absolutely fantastic DIY project! They are tree stumps, but the tops have been painted to give them a smooth surface.  So they end up being this fabulous blend of rustic and modern extra seating, plant stands, etc.  What a great idea if you have an abundance of log bits nearby!

I must have J go cut me some stumps so I can have a tree table in my house.  If you want to see the full step-by-step instructional on Martha Stewart's site, you can go here.

What did you do this weekend?  My thoughts and prayers are with Karen from Restyled Vintage, whose city in New Zealand was struck by the recent earthquake.  She is okay but it's just another reminder how precious every moment is in our lives.

Have a great day my dear friends.

  1. I really wanted to bring home some chunks of driftwood trees from the cottage to do this with! Maybe next time, thanks for the link!

I'm glad Karen is okay, I have her blog bookmarked and check it regularly.

  3. Awww thanks Lenore for the very sweet mention, it made me get tears in my eyes just to think that my sweet blog friends care :) The world seems alot smaller (in a good way) when things like this happen, we are all people living our own lives and probably will never meet but at times like this it doesn't seem like much separates us at all.
    xx Karen
(hope that makes some sort of sense, my brain is a bit fuzzy at the moment!)
