I picked out some lovely polka dot fabric and painted the base in the awesome Krylon Bahama Sea spray paint I used on the candlesticks. I had it all put together for pics when I noticed an ugly run in the fabric. So I redid the cover with my last bit only to find it happen again!!! I just realized it's from screwing the base back onto the fabric part. I'm super frustrated and I guess i have to do it all over again and find sturdier fabric PLUS pre-drill the holes to avoid the same problem.
Soooo, this post is partly to vent and partly to keep you from making the same mistake! Arrgghh!
Don'tyou hate it when this type of thing happens?
oh crap, don't you hate it when that happens! (I have been there done that myself, too, with my kids bedroom blinds that I slaved over sewing!) The stool is very cute though!

Oh, that stinks. But maybe you'll find a fabric you love even more. Love the colour!
ReplyDeleteThat must be so frustrating...but I'm with Cathy...maybe you'll be even more in love with it when you're done!
ReplyDeleteThat is indeed very frustrating. My big oops usually involve some kind of decoupage project. It is going to be awesome in the end.
ReplyDeleteif you precut holes in the fabric, you can take a lighter to them and seal the cut ends of the fabric, too. that might help? it does look really cute! i am sure it will be all better soon. :)
ReplyDeletegah! hope it works out dear! i'm sure you'll be able to make it marvelous :)

good learning, though?!
ReplyDeleteJust wondering... could you put a piece of duct tape over the part your drilling the screw into? Does that make sense?
ReplyDeletejust wanted to let you know I'm featuring your blog tomorrow with this post. I hope that's okay?

ReplyDeleteI hate this happened but if it is any consolation you have inspired me... this is the color i need to use for some awesome barkcloth I found with black, red, turquoise... it will be perfect.
ReplyDeleteI have found in my photography and design work that something like this usually results in a much better final project, you tweak and change things just a tad and find you like it much better in the end.
What a bummer! Well, we can't see the run in the picture, and I think it looks amazing :)
ReplyDeleteoh no! well, despite the fabric issues, it looks great. i love the blue color of the base!
