Cold city - Right life

Life fell into place when I moved to Manitoba.

The stars aligned.  The paths cleared.  The ducks found their row.

It certainly wasn't the easiest decision to turn my life completely upside down on it's head.  But I knew I had to do something.

I had been living in Calgary for 8 years (and couldn't stand the traffic).  I had a good job on paper at one of the country's most famous employers (that I hated in real life).  I had an amazing condo downtown (with loud neighbors that stomped above me all night).  I passed the mountains every day in the distance (and rarely every actually went there).  I was single (but went on 147 bad dates).  I had amazing friends (still do, that's the one thing I won't complain about!).

So I sold the condo, quit the job, kissed my friends, packed up the U-haul and said goodbye to my life as I knew it.  And moved to the coldest, buggiest place on earth.

Fast forward 2.5 years...

I fell in love (with the same guy I fell in love with at 15 years old).  I bought an adorable vacation property just 3 minutes from the beach.  I bought a character-filled 100 year old house in one of my favourite Winnipeg neighborhoods.  I got a puppy who fills me with joy.  I got a job at an advertising agency that feels like the most perfect job I could have asked for.  I'm making amazing new friends.

My only regret?  Missing my ladies.  But I know they're always there.

Best decision I ever made.

What's the best decision you every made?

Lenore

  1. Well Lenore my best decision, and I know this is going to be corny, was to go on that first date with Lindsay. After that fateful night good things just kept coming my way.

I became a instant Dad to one of the most amazing little girls.

    I married my dream woman.

Lindsay gave me the courage and self confidence to believe that I could take on a challenge of a University Degree, in a field I have always wanted to be in.

Now we have a second child, who is amazing and gets me thinking everyday who is he going to become, and what life will be like for him when he is my age right now.

Your sister is one amazing lady. Someone that I fall in love with more everyday (here come the tears). Life is good and I try to thank her everyday.

    Anywho thought I would share.

Oh yeah to top that all off, I also gained an awesome sister!

    love Jason

  2. Okay, either you're really trying to win me over as a sister-in-law or you're really trying to make me cry!

What a wonderful bunch of things to say Jason. Lindsay and Hailey and Wyatt are so lucky to have you. You are a wonderful husband and father (and brother-in-law!).

It's so easy to get caught up in the day to day and forget all the big wonderful things that have happened and are happening in our lives. I'm glad we both took a moment to share ours.

    Love Lenore

  3. You're sweet Shauna. It is my dream, so someday...sigh! A big undertaking though.

  4. I love this post. Even though I know moving was the absolute right decision for you (because I have never seen you happier), I miss you dreadfully. But knowing we will always be a part of each other's lives makes that okay. xoxo
