Style Peek: grey plaid dress + bright coral cardigan

Happy weekend everyone! I hope you're having a good one? As promised, here is a peek at the dress I made last weekend. I've always loved the J. Crew suit dresses, so this was my next challenge.

I picked up some really cute plaid suiting material in the bargain bin at the fabric store and stuck with a super simple, A-line pullover silhouette for the actual pattern.

It was LOTS of new learning for me - first time doing darts, first time doing shoulder straps, first time working with partially stretch material....if you're contemplating getting into sewing - I highly recommend the trial and error method. There are so many mistakes I won't be making again. The hem is way too heavy on this....something I will have to figure out and fix one day. But it did pass the 'wearable' test so that's a success in itself!

It's a big week for me - I'm presenting at the Canadian Marketing Association's Digital Day 2011 on Thursday. My ad agency Fusion is the title sponsor so I'll be doing some opening remarks to get everyone pumped up about a day of digital and social media! Check out the cute graphic they made on our Facebook page..

Wish me luck friends, I'm super nervous! Never mind figuring out what I'm going to wear.....

Have a lovely day! What are you getting up to in your part of the world?
