Shades of Blue

Happy Friday friends! I'm sooo looking forward to the weekend. We moved offices this week and it's been a sea of change - all good but you know how change is. It drains your energy a little more than usual.

So yesterday I finalized my first design decision when it comes to my wedding vision and I'm so excited to share it with you. As you know from my cardigan choice, my main colour will be a dusty turquoise complimented by soft neutrals like ivory, grey, pale yellow and leafy green. My round tables will be covered in white tablecloths but I'll be adding squares of assorted coloured fabrics I purchased from Etsy in those shades for a pop of colour and a 'vintage' mismatched feel. My lovely sister and matron-of-honour Lindsay will be sewing them for me.

Here's a sneak peek at the fabrics I chose...

It's really feeling like it's starting to come together and I'm so excited!

My dear past brides, how did you decide on your colours and design? Did you choose something you always loved? Did you break out and try something new? I'd love to hear about it!

Have a great weekend friends!

  1. I love this idea! Your fabrics are so beautiful! Great minds think alike... I actually had this idea for my wedding too but it didn't work out. I wanted to incorporate patterns with fabrics and papers in my colour scheme but couldn't find anything locally and didn't really know or think about etsy at the time. It all came together though with the flowers and little things I did find. I can't wait to hear about more ideas as they come together.

  2. I love your selection! What a great idea for a late summer wedding.

For my own wedding in 2002, I didn't spend much time on the details. I selected what I love - stars, the sun, red, orange and yellow.

The most difficult selections were my dress and dresses for my sister and best friend, as they were both going to be 5 months pregnant on the wedding day.

I had a dress vision - straight, sheath - and once I tried it on, it did not suit me at all! Also, my red and white addidas sneakers would have been too visible under the sheath dress...I needed a fuller skirt ;)

In the end, I wouldn't change a thing - it was all perfect.

  4. I got married in a garden in July. It was at a historic inn in New England. It was simple, and elegant. I wore a simple white tank dress. My flower girls wore pastel pink dresses with roses embroidered into their dresses with sage green ribbon around their waists. My bridesmaids had long black and white dresses. It all worked and it was simple and beautiful! ;) Whatever you pick will be so pretty. Do what makes you happy ;)

  6. Oo!! This is to die for Lenore..Seriosuly love it.
I didn't really have a "colour" per say. I knew what I liked when I saw it, and things just seem to come together. My vision changed all the time!
I got my flowers from the farmers market in st.norbert, purchased fabrics I loved, bridesmaides dresses that were classic and afforadable, and always looked for little touches that were really "us".
You have such incredible taste, just go with your gut, it's going to be gorgeous!
