Hello everyone and happy Monday! I hope you had a fab weekend? I'm excited to bring you another 'The Story Behind...' and it seems like we're really seeing a theme here with grandmothers. Mine's definitely on my mind these days... Aren't the pieces that are passed on to you and have history attached to them so special?
Today we're hearing from Michelle - who's actually a fabulous client of mine. I've done two pieces for her through Lather Creations - the Inky Blue Weathered Desk and the Luxe Blooms Cherry Bench. Her story is so sweetly written and since she's a photographer, her photos really tell the story beautifully. Here she is...
When I was younger this jewelry box used to sit under my Memere's dresser at her old house. It was the first place I'd go to when I went to visit. I loved sifting through all her beautiful things. She didn't have much, but what she had was amazing. Brooches, earrings, a few necklaces sat on the soft red velvet. My favorite piece, a blue necklace which I recently wore to a work gala drew many compliments and questions about where I found it. I smiled and thought of my grandma.
I didn't think I would get teary eyed writing this, but I totally did! (I'm sure Michelle didn't want me to include this but I couldn't help myself...xoLenore)
Thank you so much Michelle for sharing your story with us, such beautiful memories! Michelle is a PR gal for a local arts organization, if you'd like to catch up with her you can find her here on Twitter.
I know you have something in your closet/home/life that you absolutely adore! So why submit it for 'The Story Behind...'? Send me a picture to lhume1@mts.net and include your story (don't forget your blog link or Facebook/Twitter page so I can include it!). It's such a great way to meet new friends... Have a question? Drop me a line over on Twitter!
Very touching, especially the photo. I have a few of my late grandma's jewellery items, too - and they always make me smile and think of her.
ReplyDeleteI love this new feature, Lenore! I'm debating what to send in - I have so many lovely things with wonderful stories behind them. Looking forward to seeing more.
