Etsy Love: JJEvensen Art

Sorry for being MIA the last few days.  It was one of those cases where your body reminds who's in control and puts their foot down.  I have an ongoing low back issue that I manage, but for some reason my entire upper back froze up in a spasm.  So. not. cool.  So I've been drugged up with muscle relaxants and anti-inflammatories in attempts to find relief.  I'm feeling a bit better so back to work today, but I probably won't be doing any painting for a few days!  In the meantime, I leave you with some Etsy love...

It never ceases to amaze me what crafty people can do!  Like Etsy shop JJEvensen Art...they handcraft items using recycled materials like old cutlery.  Who doesn't have a bunch of old spoons and forks loading up their utensil drawer?  I love what they've come up with...

Who knew forks made perfect fingers?

Can you believe this one is a business card holder...

The end of a piece of silverware makes a beautiful barrette!

Hope you all have a lovely day friends!

Artful Rain

What happens when art meets environmentalism?

This cool idea comes from Illinois.  I ran across it at one of my fave blogs Orange Sugar Home.  The LeGrange Business Association started a summer program where businesses can sponsor a rain barrel, which is then decorated by an artist or group.  The barrels are on display during the summer to bring awareness to the issue of water conservation, then auctioned off for charity in the fall.

How cool is that?  You could even design and decorate your own rain barrel to add a touch of whimsy or colour to your own yard...Here are some of their 'green' pieces of art.

Things I Covet

I covet beautiful notebooks.

Maybe it's the writer in me.  Maybe it's my love of organic prints.

Whatever the case, I set out on this gorgeous Friday after work in search of a lovely little notebook.

It is one of those days, where you don't mind sitting in traffic because the sun is shining.  Your radio station is kind enough to play some Bob Marley and you are starting your weekend.

I stopped into The Creative Paper Gallery Ltd. on Corydon to see what they had in stock.  Besides cards, wrapping paper, paper products and wedding invitations, this little shop carries all kinds of giftware, trinkets and beautiful things.

I picked up this set of 3 writer's notebooks from Galison Green, they're 100% recycled, come in 3 pretty, leafy patterns and I will feel happy everytime I make a list or jot down an idea!

Free Starbucks on Thursday!

I have a Starbucks addiction.

I know, I know...I am not alone.  The darn cost is bleeding me dry.  I could be making payments on a brand new Accord for the money I funnel their way.

So imagine my delight to discover I could indulge for free this Thursday!!  On April 15th, bring your reusable travel mug to your local Starbucks and they will fill it with coffee for zip, zilch, nada!

This is being done in an effort to eliminate paper cups completely.

Go ahead - hit your local Starbucks this Thursday guilt-free!
